Robert R. Flisakowski, 82

Robert R. Flisakowski, age 82 of Stevens Point, passed away on Tuesday January 21, 2014, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital after a long battle with diabetes.

He was born on June 17, 1931, the son of the late William and Doney (Megal) Flisakowski on the family farm in the town of Eau Pleine near Dancy. He attended local elementary school and graduated from Mosinee High School in 1949.

After graduation, the family moved to Stevens Point and he became employed by Preway Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids for a few years and then started his 39 year career at the Stevens Point Division of Consolidated Papers, retiring in 1993.

On May 4, 1953, he married Gladys Feltz and during their 60 years of marriage they had seven children. They are Karen (Larry) Konkol, Doreen Flisakowski, Mary Lou (Larry) Rockman, Nancy (Tim) Binder, Joy (Don) Abel, Bill (Kim) Flisakowski and Amy Marchel. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Virginia Mischnick. He was preceded in death by his brother Elmer and sisters Romona Pacyna, Bernice Zynda and Lorraine Flisakowski who passed away in her youth.

Over the years Robert enjoyed being a handyman and was always willing to help family, friends and neighbors with building and home improvement projects.

He was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan. He enjoyed working in his yard during the summer months and in the winter he spent time making jig-saw puzzles by the fireplace. Robert also loved Polka music and played the concertina.

Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday January 23, 2014, at 10:30a.m. at St. Bronislava Catholic Church Plover with the Rev. Robert Konkol officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials in Robert’s name will be established at a later date.
