Stevens Point Woman Faces Felony With Bank Theft

City-Times Staff
A Stevens Point woman faces a felony theft charge after police say she embezzled about $16,000 from the U.S. Bank where she worked.
Kristen Deadwyler, 27, says she took the money from the Stevens Point bank where she formerly worked to help repay loans she’d taken out at area payday loan businesses.
According to court records, one ATM machine Deadwyler was responsible for came up $6,000 short in March and another $10,000 went missing from her machine in April. It is not known why Deadwyler’s alleged theft wasn’t discovered sooner.
If Deadwyler is convicted she faces up to 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines. Her preliminary hearing is set for February 24.
