Dangerous Cold Stunts Point Area

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning until noon Tuesday, but the bitterly cold temps will last at least the rest of the day.
According to the NWS, Tuesday’s high of -4 will be accompanied by mostly sunny skies, but that isn’t much of a bright spot as winds will drive the temps to -45. By Tuesday night those wind chill values will rise only slightly to an expected low of -40.
Wednesday improves slightly, with the wind chill bringing an expected low of -30.
All public and parochial schools in and around Stevens Point have been cancelled Tuesday, and several businesses have already announced closing early due to weather.
All City of Stevens Point and Village of Plover offices and services remain open and available.
