Esther M. Engebretson, age 88 of Stevens Point, died Wednesday January 29, 2014. at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.  

Esther was born on January 6, 1926 in Rosholt. She was the daughter of the late Peter & Annastasia “Stella” (Pollack) Zelinski. She attended Rosholt area schools.

Her marriage to Floyd Engebretson took place on September 7, 1946, at St. Peter Catholic Church after the marriage the couple settled in Stevens Point. Her husband Floyd died on August 4, 1988.

Esther worked as a waitress for local restaurants. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, baking pies, volunteered at the Lincoln Center for their lunch program and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to shake dice.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Todd) Nelson of Waupaca, Pat (Jack) Steinbarth of Hickory Creek Texas, Linda (Glenn) Myers of Waupaca, Debbie (Tony) Quella of Stevens Point, Faye Bishop (Mike Gerard) of Reno Nevada and Peter (Dorea) Engebretson of Mosinee. 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

She is also survived by four brothers, Clarence, Raymond, Chet and Dan Zelinski; Two sisters, Ann Stanchik and Kathy Delano. Special friend, Markus “Buddy” Newton.

Preceded in death by one son Paul, three brothers, Alex, Henry and Tony; One Sister Eleanor Ostrowski.

Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday January 31, 2014 at 12: 00p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Ted Levandowski officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home of Stevens Point is assisting the family with arrangements.
