Photo of the Day: Izaak Walton League Jamboree

City-Times Staff
While no organized fishing contest took place this year, hundreds of area residents showed up for the 2014 Izaak Walton Winter Jamboree held on McDill Pond. Snowshoeing was provided by the Hostel Shoppe, along with two- man sawing and ice sculpting demonstrations.
This year marked the conservation club’s 50th annual jamboree. Typically the event centers on an ice-fishing competition, but the ice was largely empty this year because the pond only recently had been restocked with fingerling fish.
Other events this year included thousands of dollars in cash and prizes raffled off, music, hot food and impromptu snowball fights and sledding.
