Photo of the Day: Joe Pavelski Day

By Robert Whitmire
Students throughout the Stevens Point Public School District are celebrating “Joe Pavelski Day”, a formal recognition of the former SPASH student now playing for the United State Hockey Team at the 2014 Sochi Olympic games. Pavelski also plays professionally in the National Hockey League for the San Jose Sharks.
Pavelski is a 2003 SPASH graduate.
Students at SPASH were encouraged to wear red, white and blue attire or hockey apparel for the school day. Pavelski’s parents, Mike and Sandy, were on hand this morning at SPASH and are expected at several other area elementary schools throughout the day to celebrate their son’s accomplishments.
February 7 has been declared “Joe Pavelski Day” by the school district, the City of Stevens Point and the Village of Plover.
