Author to Discuss ‘Mother of My Son’ Novel

UWSP alumni Rachel Allord will discuss her novel Mother of My Son on Monday in the Pinery Room of the Portage County Library.
Mother of My Son explores the unlikely friendship between Amber Swansen and Beth Dilinger. Amber has a terrible secret. As a college student, Amber gave birth to a son and abandoned him. She tries to bury her secret but is forever ridden with guilt. Years later she meets Beth and friendship blossoms between them, yet Beth’s son is a constant, painful reminder to Amber of the child she abandoned.
When heartache hits Amber again, Beth stands by her side, and peace seems within grasp, but Amber’s past comes to light and threatens to shatter their worlds, and the life of the teenage son they both love.
Allord will discuss her writing process and will answer questions from the audience.
Copies of the book will be available for sale.
