One year after rebuilding Ellis Street, the City of Stevens Point has its eyes set on a similar project for Bukolt Avenue.
According to city documents the project is a total reconstruct between Second Street and the Bukolt Park entrance and will cost about $850,000.
Mayor Andrew Halverson said the project will include new underground utilities as well as curb and gutter, but Bukolt Avenue has one feature most other city streets do not.
“Bukolt Avenue is one of the more unique streets, completely lined with trees, in the city so we’ll be engaging with the city forester to make sure we preserve as many of those beautiful street trees as we possibly can,” he said. “Otherwise it’s identical to the Ellis Street project- it’s a total reconstruct from pavement to base.”
Halverson said area homeowners will be notified of the project soon and parking accommodations will be made available for those who need it. Public meetings on the project will be held starting in March.
Halverson said the project will begin in either May or June and should be complete by August, weather permitting.
