No Fly List: Beer Brewed in Point Won’t Be Delivered by Drone

An attempt to deliver a locally- brewed beer to ice fishermen by way computer- programmed drones has been grounded.
Lakemaid Beer, based out of Minnesota but brewed in Stevens Point, has made national headlines as the beer which was to be flown in by drone to anglers out on the ice but the plan was almost immediately grounded by the FAA.
Lakemaid, known as the “fishermen’s lager”, had planned to deliver its beer to ice shacks on the frozen lakes of Minnesota, but the FAA this week said those flights could not proceed because drones cannot be used for commercial delivery under federal law.
A White House petition has been started to persuade the agency to allow the beer air flight.
