By Patrick Lynn
A 24 year-old man sits in jail after allegedly physically abusing his infant daughter, who following a medical exam was found to have injuries consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome.
Choua Xiong of Plover faces charges of recklessly causing great harm, child abuse and neglecting a child after injuries caused his six month-old daughter to have seizures and a stay in an intensive care unit. According to court documents the girl also suffered a fractured leg shortly after she was born.
The investigation has been underway since January.
Xiong initially claimed the girl was injured during a car accident which occurred in October but later admitted to dropping and shaking the baby.
Xiong has been ordered to have no contact with children and remains in the Portage Co. Jail under a $25,000 bond.
He returns to court on February 17.
