City leaders have cleared the road- literally- for two popular annual events scheduled for spring.
The Stevens Point Public Protection Committee this week approved temporary street closures for the Pont Bock Run, which will be held March 1st, and the April 11th Annual Trivia Parade. Streets will be marked prior to the events, and parked vehicles will be towed and ticketed.
Formal approval for the street closures is required by law for the events, but is expected to breeze through the full Common Council Monday night, with Stevens Point Police Sgt. Tony Babl saying both events are well-controlled and don’t present any safety or legal problems.
Registration has closed for the Bock Run, which began in 1982. The 5- mile race begins at the Point Brewery, 2617 Water Street and takes runners along Whiting Avenue, River Avenue and West River Drive. The race begins at noon. For more information click here.
The Annual Trivia Parade will begin at 4 PM on Friday prior to the start of what’s known as the “World’s Largest Trivia Contest”, which this year runs April 11-13.
Teams from across the globe participate in the event, sponsored by Friends of 90FM.
The parade begins in UWSP Parking Lot Q on Isadore Street and comes to an end in the parking lot of P.J. Jacobs Junior High. For the parade route and additional details click here.
