City-Times Staff
A 33 year-old Plover man accused on nearly beating his girlfriend to death with a baseball bat is free on bond following a delay in his trial.
Officials from Portage Co. Jail confirmed Jason Hyatt was released early Friday morning. He has been taken into custody by Fond du Lac police on an unrelated charge.
Hyatt’s trial was slated to begin earlier this week but was rescheduled because one witness scheduled to appear was ill. He faces charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless endangering safety, kidnapping, stalking, intimidating a victim, aggravated battery, false imprisonment and bail jumping after a domestic incident in Mission Lane residence in Plover last fall.
Hyatt returns to Portage Co. Circuit Court on February 24.
