The Stevens Point Police Department has welcomed two new officers to the department, bringing the force’s number to 45.
Michael Long, 33, served four years in the United States Marine Corps as a member of a military police unit. He is a 1999 graduate of New Glarus High School. Long worked private security and held a position at Joerns Healthcare prior to graduating from the Mid-State Technical College Criminal Justice program. Long also served on the SPPD Auxiliary.
Probationary Officer Robert Roser is a 2005 graduate of SPASH. He graduated from UWSP in 2009 with a major in social science and a minor in sociology. He worked various factory jobs while in college.
Roser graduated from the MSTC recruit academy in 2011 and previously worked part-time with the Vesper Police Department before being hired in Stevens Point.
Both Long and Roser began the SPPD’s 18- week field training program in January.
