David J. Quimby, 80

David J. Quimby, 80 of Stevens Point, passed away Thursday Feb. 20, 2014 at his home. He was under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice of Wausau.
He was born April 10, 1933 in Stevens Point. Son of the late George & Helen (Anderson) Quimby. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and also attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. His marriage to Bonita “Bonnie” L. Konopacki took place on July 27, 1973 at Assumption Chapel in Wisconsin Rapids. She survives. He was employed at Consolidated Papers Wisconsin River Division for over 35 years, retiring in 1995.
Dave is a member of St. Stephen’s parish and was on the extended preaching staff at St. Anthony Spirituality Center for 15 years. He enjoyed organic gardening and loved snow shoveling. In lieu of flowers a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie, children: Thomas J. Quimby of Weston, Jane (John) Cotter of Stevens Point & Patrick (Marie) Quimby of Amherst. One grandson Chester Quimby of Amherst. One sister: Shirley (Charlie) Smith of Appleton & one brother: Thomas Quimby of Plover. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass 10:30 am Monday Feb. 24, 2014 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Stanchik will officiate. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen Parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Sunday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski funeral home at 703 Second St. in Stevens Point and from 9:30 am until the time of services Monday morning at the church.
