The Stevens Point Police Department Friday morning raided two area residences only minutes apart.
Assistant Police Chief Marty Skibba confirmed this morning the city’s SWAT force was deployed to assist in serving drug related warrants at two separate homes.
A warrant on the 1600 block of Main Street was served around 6:30 AM, while another warrant was served at a residence on the 2300 block of Center Street shortly after 7 AM.
“When it comes to drugs, typically they know one another so we try to get our team in quickly so we can get our investigators in there,” Skibba said Friday morning. “With drugs, there’s inevitably weapons, more often than not. SWAT is more heavily equipped with tactical gear for everyone’s safety.”
Skibba declined to give further details but said further information would be available later today.
