James E. Newby, 57 of Plover, passed away peacefully at home Friday, February 28, 2014. He was born February 10, 1957 the son of James Newby and Mary (Wanserski) Karch. He attended Stevens Point Area Schools. On July 10, 1976 he married Patti E. Adamczak at St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel Church, Fancher. He was employed at Silgan Container Corp for 34 years, retiring March 1, 2013.

Jim was a big fan of the Badgers and the Brewers. He enjoyed working around his home and was very proud of his beautiful yard. He loved to golf and it was while golfing that he was given was the nickname “One Feather”. He was devoted to his family and friends, always putting them before himself.

Jim will be forever missed by his wife Patti, their son and daughter-in-law James and Lynn Newby, children Jared and Gracie, their daughter and son-in-law Gina and Jason Rossman, children Nikolaus and Gabrielle, and their daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Shane Kohnen, children Lucas and Lyssa. Their daughter Jessica preceded him in death May 10, 2012.

Also missing Jimmy are his sisters and their families, Sherry (Ron) Peters, Cindy (Steve) Carr and Paula Wanta, his father and mother-in-law Dan (Marge) Adamczak and brothers and sisters-in-law and their families, Danette (Jim) Borski, Brett (Donna) Adamczak, Carla (Tom) Wrycza and Bart (Carol) Adams.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his step-father Leonard Karch and his nephew and godson Michael Ciesielski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at St Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends will gather to share memories on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Shuda – Plover Family Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 9:30 until 10:15 at the church

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
