No Applicants Yet for School Board Secretary
By Donnelly Clare
Leaders from the Stevens Point Public School District say no one has come forward yet to apply for the position of board secretary.
The position became available when former secretary Barb Portzen resigned in February, citing multiple instances of mistreatment by board members.
Included in his regular bi-weekly report, Superintendent Attila Weninger’s said the position is posted in several print media outlets, employment websites and the district’s human resources office.
The reason behind the lack of applicants, according to Weninger’s report, is simple.
“The word on the street is that the press surrounding the Board and the previous secretary are keeping people who might otherwise be interested away,” the report states.
Weninger also said the district has contacted several area temp agencies and have lined one interview on Tuesday. That interview will be conducted by Board President Terry Rothmann, Board Vice President Angel Faxon, Weninger and his assistant Sarah O’Donnell.
The School Board meets at 6:30 PM Monday night at Bliss Education Center, 1900 Polk Street.
