Confessed Arsonist Held on Bond

A man who police say confessed to setting his Monroe Street apartment building on fire earlier this month is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Roy Strait, 39 of Stevens Point, had his initial appearance today via video link from the Portage Co. Jail. Strait faces charges of felony arson and two counts of recklessly endangering safety.
Strait admitted to police that he doused his apartment with gasoline, lit a fire then left the premises while two other occupants were home. They were evacuated from the house without injury.
Strait returns to court April 7.
