Chester C. Chilla, 94

Chester C. Chilla, age 94, of Stevens Point died late Thursday evening, March 27, 2014 at House of the Dove Assisted Living in Marshfield.
Chester was born February 29, 1920 in the Rosholt area. He was the son of the late Nick and Jenny Chilla.
Chester entered the United States Army on February 3, 1942 at Fort Sheridan, IL. He served with the 821st Engineer Aviator Battalion as a Tech 4 Sargent during World War II. He served in Bismarck Arch, Southern Philippines and Luzon. He received the Asiac/Pacific Theatre Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 12, 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI.
He married Evelyn Gabor on August 21, 1946 in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2009. Chester worked as a foreman for Best Block Co. of Milwaukee for over thirty years. He enjoyed bowling, being in a league for many years and watching it on TV. He also loved playing cards, fishing and loved to putz around the house, as he could fix anything and everything. He enjoyed both veggie and flower gardening, and until five months ago he took care of his own home doing his own snow blowing and cutting his grass on his riding mower.
He took special care of his sick wife for two years before her death from cancer in 2009. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one son Brian (Gae) Chilla of Alpharetta, GA., and one daughter Judy and his best friend and son-in-law Jerry Zblewski of Amherst Jct. Further survived by his grandchildren; Tana (Matt) Mews, Liz and Mark Chilla, Jason (Jessica) Zblewski and Amy (Tom) Stremkowski; great grandchildren Gabriel and Blake Mews, Johnathon, Caitlin and Joshua Zblewski, and Cassie and Madison Stremkowski. His three siblings Caroline, Agnes and Dick. Chester was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, one son Mark, two grandsons and his siblings Al, Frank, Karl, Ray Bernice and Clara.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas Lindner officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9:30 A.M. Tuesday morning at St. Stanislaus Church until the time for mass. The Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
