Joan M. Skibba, 79

Joan M. Skibba, 79 of Junction City went to be with her Lord and Savior after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer on March 30th 2014.
Joan was born on November 30th 1934 in Dancy WI to the late Michael and Pearl (Pelot) Catlin.
She married Leland Skibba on August 28, 1952 at St. Michaels Parish in Junction City, four children followed.
In 1988, she returned to school at the age of 53, to complete her high school degree through the SPASH Alternative School along with her daughter Lacy.
She worked as a Telephone Operator in the 1960’s also employed at Land O Lakes Creamery, Du Bay Cranberry Co., and the Junction City Post Office.
Joan will be remembered for her avid love of deer and turkey hunting, spending many hours in a turkey blind with her daughter-in-law Kate, as well as reading, sewing, baking, NASCAR racing, gardening, flowers, birds, and Native American History and Art.
She was a former member of the Altar Society at St. Michael’s Church in Junction City where she put in countless hours of service for the parish.
Survivors include her husband Lee, 4 children, Lance (Kathleen) Skibba, Lonnie (Teri) Skibba, Lane Skibba all of Junction City, Lacy (George) Richardson of Milladore; seven grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Jane Flisakowski of Junction City, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Edna Catlin, and a grandson Raymond Skibba.
Her time spent with friends and family will be severely missed by all those left behind.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Friday, April 4, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Junction City with Fr. John Ofori-Domah officiating.
Family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 9:30am until time of services.
Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City is assisting the family with the arrangements.
The family would like to send a special thank you to her Oncologist Dr. Seth Fagbemi and the staff for their loving care, over the past year of her illness. Thank you to the staff at Ministry Home Hospice Care, whose care allowed her to spend her last days at home.
