Road Conditions Could Worsen Through Day
City-Times Staff
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until 7 PM.
A mix of snow, sleet and rain is expected throughout Friday, with up to half and inch of ice covering most area roads by tonight. According to the NWS, that kind of icing increases the possibility of damaged tree limbs and power lines.
As much as 1-3 inches of total snowfall is expected in the Stevens Point area.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is closely monitoring the weather conditions and will release updates throughout the day. Motorists should allow extra time for travel and be prepared to encounter slippery conditions.
Heavy snow accumulations are predicted north of WIS 64 on Friday. The snow combined with high winds will reduce visibility and make travel hazardous.
