A formal complaint has been filed against Stevens Point Public School District relating to contract negotiations with teachers.
A hearing has been scheduled for noon on Wednesday at Bliss Education Center, 1900 Polk Street. An attorney with the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission will preside over the hearing.
The hearing comes in the wake of a prohibited practice complaint filed by the Stevens Point Area Education Association (SPAEA) in August. The complaint alleges Superintendent Attila Weninger and the district failed to bargain in good faith with SPAEA, instead entering into closed session negotiation meetings with a predetermined wage increase of zero.
SPAEA gave Weninger a vote of no confidence last year after several rounds of negotiations failed to make headway between the teacher’s group and the district. No agreement between the two parties has been reached since Act 10 went into effect in 2011.
