Letter: Celebrate Stewardship Week All Year Round
To the Editor-
The Portage County Land Conservation Committee (LCC) and Land Conservation Division (LCD) staff encourages citizens to be good stewards of our natural resources at home and in our communities, not only during the celebration of Stewardship Week, April 27 through May 4, but all year round. The 2014 national theme is “DIG DEEPER: Mysteries in the Soil”.
Soil is a dirty topic, but we encourage every citizen to learn more about it. Soil is the foundation for many of the items we use in our daily life, such as food, clothing, clean water, homes, and more. Healthy soil equals healthy food, which equals a healthy you. Don’t treat your soil like dirt! Take the time to help us celebrate Stewardship Week.
Stewardship Week promotional materials are made available to area schools and youth leaders for use in their education programs compliments of the LCC and LCD staff. For more information, you may contact the LCD at 715-346-1334.
