Mayor Halverson issued the annual reorganization of standing committees on Tuesday- something done each year after aldermanic elections.

Council Members also elect a new council president, replacing Alderman Jerry Moore who served in a position for the past year.

Moore did receive an immediate nomination for president by Alderman Roger Trzebiatowski, which was quickly seconded by Alderman Tony Patton.

Councilwoman Joanne Suomi nominated Randy Stroik for the spot, but he declined the nomination.

“Then I nominate Jeremy Slowinski,” she said. That motion was seconded by Alderman Mike O’Meara.

Mike Wiza was also nominated but respectfully declined.

Slowinski won the position of council president by a secret ballot vote of 6-4. The ballots were collected by City Clerk John Moe and publicly counted by Comptroller/Treasurer Corey Ladick.

President Slowinski will act as mayor pro tem during public appearances and during meetings when Halverson is not present.

City Council Members serve two-year terms. Even-numbered district faced re-election on April 1, with Mike Wiza, Joanne Suomi, Jeremy Slowinski, Tony Patton and Mike Phillips, all having run unopposed.

Other committee appointments follow:
