Kiwanis Club Donates Hygiene Kits to At- Need Students
For the City-Times
The Kiwanis Club of Stevens Point will launch a new giving project that will provide hygiene kits to at-need students within the Stevens Point Area Public School District.
“We are grateful to the Stevens Point Kiwanis for their leadership and commitment to the students of our community. The hygiene kits they are providing to students will fill a gap for the District, and the students,” said Dr. Attila J. Weninger, Superintendent. “We look forward to this partnership continuing to foster the development of our students,” he added.
The kits will include essential personal hygiene items and will be distributed to at-need students by school counselors and social workers at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Funding for the kits comes from the club’s annual fundraiser, “Kiwanis Korn Roast for Kids,” held each summer during Riverfront Rendezvous in Stevens Point.
“Our club was looking for a new way to have a meaningful and broad impact on children in our community,” said Fred Hebblewhite, Club President. “We are hopeful that this project, in partnership with the public school district, will do just that and allow us to continue fulfilling the mission of Kiwanis International.”
The club kicks off the project at their weekly noon meeting on Tuesday, April 22 when they begin to assemble hundreds of kits that will be distributed across the school district.
