City to Hold Informational Meeting on Railroad Overpass
City-Times Staff
The City of Stevens Point is holding a public informational meeting on a new proposed overpass for the railroad crossing on Country Club Drive/Hoover Road.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6 from 5:30-7:30 PM at Spectra Print, 2301 Country Club Drive. Attendees are asked to use the Woodward Drive entrance past the guard shack to access the building from the parking lot.
There will be a presentation at 6 PM with an open house format before and after. Representatives from the City of Stevens Point and AECOM will be present to explain the proposed project, answer questions, and receive input on the project.
All citizens with concerns- as well as those with historical knowledge- who might be able to assist in the development of this project are encouraged to attend or contact project personnel.
Significant delays occur on Hoover Road/Country Club Drive due to Canadian National Railroad switching and transport operations blocking the intersection for extended periods of time each day. The delays influence traffic along Industrial Park Drive/Patch Street and other nearby roadways as well. The City of Stevens Point and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation have retained AECOM to conduct a preliminary study of alternatives for a grade separation of Country Club Drive/Hoover Road railroad crossing. This meeting will be to present information to the public about alternatives for the grade separation and to gather input for a preferred alternative.
Information about the project is available from Kevin Hagen at AECOM, 200 Indiana Avenue, Stevens Point, Wisconsin 54481, (715) 342-3053; and Scott Schatschneider at the City of Stevens Point Public Works Department, 1515 Strongs Avenue, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, 54481, (715) 346-1561.
