Genevieve D. Jelinski, 89
Genevieve D. Jelinski, 89 of Custer, died Wednesday April 16, 2014, at North Crest Assisted Living in Stevens Point.
Genevieve was born on January 1, 1925, in Amherst Junction. She was the daughter of the late John and Alvina (Shulfer) Dombrowski. She attended local schools in the town of New Hope. Her marriage to Frank Jelinski took place on October 20, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Polonia.
Genevieve worked for Lullabye Furniture, Normington and Point Cleaners. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society Rose #17 since 1956.
She enjoyed writing letters, baking cookies, playing cards, dancing, praying the rosary daily, taking photos and was active at the Lincoln Center.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Jelinski of Custer. Son; Richard (Kris) Jelinski of Stevens Point. Daughters, Janice (Roger) Firkus of Custer and Joyce (Randy) Flisakowski of Amherst Junction. Grandchildren; Shane and Shannon Firkus, Shelly (Jason) Ostrowski, Derek and Alyssa Jelinski. Great-Grandchildren; Harleigh and Presley Firkus, Abrahm Reynolds and Hailey Ostrowski.
Also survived by her sisters, Lucille Dallman of Oshkosh, Irene (Leo) Shopinski of Stevens Point and brother, Charles (Bea) Dombrowski of Wisconsin Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Adamczak, Selma Sopa and Dorothy Brezinski. Brothers, Dennis Dombrowski and Ernest Dombrowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday April 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Polonia with the Reverend’s. Greg Michaud and Hilary Brezinski officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home Stevens Point and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Sacred Heart Rosary Society will combine with the parish at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials in Genevieve’s name will be established at a later date.
