Orie I.  Sjoberg, 60, of the Village of Whiting, Stevens Point died early Thursday morning, April 17, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Orie was born November 7, 1953 in Wausau, WI. He was the son of the late John J. and Phyllis G. Sjoberg. He attended Wausau East High School graduating in 1972. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point graduating with a Bachelors of Arts Degree. He served as an assistant coach for the UWSP football team for a number of years in the late 1970’s.  His marriage to the former Mary Jo Nugent took place on January 17, 1981 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. After their marriage the couple settled in the Stevens Point area. His wife Mary Jo survives.

Orie was a career salesman, most recently doing sales in the building industry. He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles. Orie was a sports enthusiast, following the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers and all Wisconsin sports teams. He was a family man and enjoyed coaching his children in baseball and softball in the Plover/Whiting Youth Athletic programs. In his later years, his most precious time was being with his grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date. Survivors include his wife Mary Jo of Stevens Point. His three children; Beth (Jason) Wojtalewicz of Amherst, Kandra Sjoberg and Andy Sjoberg both of Stevens Point and his four special grandchildren Balin, Cade, Eva and Shaeden. Further survived by two brothers; John (Rosalind) Sjoberg and Donald (Tanya) Sjoberg both of Wausau and one sister Eva (Bruce) Radloff of California. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Emma and one sister Judy.

Memorial Services will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening April 22, 2014 at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Plover. Family and friends may call after 4 PM until the time of services. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The Pisarski Community Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
