We’re gearing up to host our 4th annual Shredding Party, a community service event that raises money for Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools, and YOU are invited…individuals and business alike!

Bring your unwanted documents to our Shredding Party on May 15th from 3pm – 6:30pm.  Individual households AND businesses are both welcome to bring documents!

A few years ago in a business planning retreat, the advisors and staff of Schulfer & Associates, LLC Financial Professionals made a commitment to give more to our community.  We wanted to:

  1. Host an event where we could share our knowledge with our community – something that could potentially benefit anyone and everyone that goes beyond our ordinary business services
  2. Make it FUN!  Make it unique…..
  3. Support a charitable organization that has given to our community and is dear to our hearts

Throughout the years, we frequently heard from clients how their personal record keeping documents accumulate, and they would commonly ask us, What can I shred, and what do I have to keep?  That was the genesis of the idea for the event….  A spring-cleaning themed Shredding Party!

We researched the subject seeking a book, a paper, a website, and believe it or not, couldn’t find anything comprehensive.  So, we authored a guide, “What to Shred, What to Keep”, that we will e-mail (saving trees!) or provide a printed copy free upon request when you RSVP for the event.

Looking for a like-minded business to partner with, we presented the idea to IROW.  They were delighted to generously offer their collection and shredding services for an afternoon, and remain an enthusiastic partner in the event to benefit our community.

Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools have been rich in Central Wisconsin’s heritage, dating all the way back to 1887!  The schools have a strong reputation in our community and have enriched the lives of countless families, bridging across many generations.  We feel it is important to support their noble cause so that SPACS may continue to be a valuable resource in our community for generations to come.  This year, our goal is to raise $2,700 through donations and food sales.  All money raised will be used to purchase books and materials for the Singapore Math program.  Singapore Math teaches students to master fewer mathematical concepts at greater detail than standard math using a three-step process:  1) hands-on learning using objects  2) drawing pictorial representations of mathematical concepts and 3) solving problems in an abstract way using numbers and symbols.  With Singapore math, students have placed at the top of international math competitions for years.

So, bring your no longer needed documents.  IROW will be on site with one of their big, blue recognizable trucks to collect your documents, which will be secured and taken to their facility to shred, just as they do in their daily service to businesses.  IROW staff will be on site, including owner Cory Tomczak.  IROW will have Certificate of Destruction slips available, so feel free to request a receipt when you bring your documents.  In the past three years, participation in the event has been outstanding.  We ask that large orders please call ahead.  Donations will be accepted for the shredding service with all proceeds going to SPACS as outlined above.

Aligned with our shredding theme, we will be selling Shredded Beef, Shredded Cheese, Shredded Cole Slaw, Shredded Potato Chips, soda and water.  Make it a meal for only $5!   We’ll have live performances by the Pacelli band, performing from 3:30 – 5:00.

Cumulatively, $6,300 has been raised for SPACS through the past three shredding parties.  Come, shred, eat, listen to great music and help reach this years’ goal, which would raise the cumulative total to $9,000!

RSVP’s are appreciated but not mandatory by calling our office at (715) 343-9600 or e-mailing us at [email protected].  You may request a free copy of our guide “What to Shred, What to Keep.”
