Gregory Chester Kizewski, age 90 of Stevens Point, died early Sunday morning, April 13, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Greg was born March 12, 1924 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late John and Cecelia (Ziolkowski) Kizewski.  His marriage to the former Dorothy Konieczki took place on November 4, 1946 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Greg was never afraid of hard work. He was successful in many trades, before he was able to find his passion in farming.

He started out as a milk hauler for numerous farmers in the area, back when milk was picked up in cans.  He worked in a quarry as a stone cutter and owned a dump truck that he loaded by hand.  He was the owner of the Brown Derby Tavern, as well as Central Roofing and Siding Company in Wisconsin Rapids. He also drove semi for CW Transport. It was the late 50’s when Greg was able to get into farming in Plover, establishing Greg Kizewski & Sons Inc. over 50 years ago.  The farm still raises potatoes, sweet corn and green beans. Greg enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with his wife, spending time berry picking, attending church picnics and listening to polka music.

Greg is survived by his wife Dorothy of 67 years, and their children Rich (Elaine) Kizewski of Plover, Mary (Dennis) Kitowski of Custer, Steve (Diane) Kizewski of Stevens Point, and Chet (Lynn) Kizewski of Wisconsin Rapids.   He is further survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Greg was the second youngest of 11 children and is survived by one sister Christine Tuholski of Costa Mesa, CA.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Rev. Joseph Arul Visuvasam officiating. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 9:30 A.M. Wednesday morning at the St. Faustina Room of St. Peters Church until the time for mass. There will be a parish rosary at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.pisarskifuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Greg’s name will be established at a later date.

Greg’s family would like to thank Aspirus Hospice, especially Shannon and Donna for their wonderful care they provided.  A heartfelt thank you to “our angels” Fran Fink, Melissa Shuda and Cindy Spranger for the loving kindness, care and support.
