Enjoy an entertaining, educational and free exploration of the night sky at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Allen F. Blocher Planetarium on Sunday afternoons this spring.

“Sky Quest” will be shown at the planetarium at 2 p.m. on the Sundays of May 4, 11 and 18. The program is open to the public free of charge.

Narrated by Roxann Dawson, who played B’Elanna Torres on Star Trek: Voyager, “Sky Quest” is the journey of a girl who imagines trips to Mars as a child and eventually becomes an astronomer. She shares telescopic views of celestial objects and describes the night sky.

The planetarium doors open 30 minutes before the scheduled program. Designed for a general audience, planetarium programs appeal to all age groups. Seating is first come, first served for up to 60 people. Groups of 15 or more may schedule a special showing of any planetarium program by calling 715-346-2208. There is a cost of $15 per group for these presentations.

On Monday evenings, the “Night Sky” program is offered at 8 p.m. in the planetarium to look in detail at objects in the current night sky.

The planetarium is located on the second floor of the UWSP Science Building at the corner of Reserve Street and Fourth Avenue. Parking is available in Lot X near the building entrance, and is free in all university lots after 7 p.m. More information is at www.uwsp.edu/physastr.
