Washington School Prepares for Tiger Trek
For the City-Times
The 11th Annual Tiger Trek Fun Run and Walk is being held at Washington Elementary School on Saturday May 17th.
This is event designed to promote fun, fitness and community involvement for children and adults. Funds raised by this event will support Washington School as well as Threads of Kindness, a parent- sponsored program to provide clothing, shoes and other necessary items to elementary school children.
“Children learn by example,” said Washington Principal Ryan Ourada. “By participating in the Tiger Trek the students see first-hand how the community can work together to benefit an important cause like Threads of Kindness. They also get to see whole families, teachers, grandparents and other community members making fitness and fun time a priority- there is no better way to learn.”
The cost for the run is $17 before May 8th, or $22 after that date and includes a t-shirt. Both the 1 mile and 5k courses are certified and are chip- timed.
Registration can be done online at www.revelsports.com by clicking the race calendar and scrolling down to locate Tiger Trek registration.
Registration forms can also be downloaded from the Stevens Point Area Public School website under Washington School and Tiger Trek and mailed in.
On race day, registration begins at 8:30 am. The 5k run and walk will start at 10 AM, the 1 mile run and walk starts at 11 AM and an adaptive P.E. run starts at 11:30 AM.
There will be refreshments for runners and a silent auction on- site. Awards will be given by age group following the last race. Questions about the race can be directed to [email protected].
