Monica A. Kaminski-Winiecke, 90, of Stevens Point, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1924, in the town of Dewey, to the late Ignatius and Helen (Helminiak) Krayecki, and attended the Cartmill and St. Casimir Schools.

On Feb. 9, 1944, she married Andrew G. Kaminski, Sr. at St. Casimir Catholic Church and they had seven children. Her husband preceded her in death on Sep. 9, 1963. She then married Henry Winiecke in 1966, who also preceded her in death.

She waitressed at several Stevens Point area restaurants and worked for 25 years for the Board of Education at SPASH in the maintenance department. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and also enjoyed attending Mass at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek.

Monica loved to garden, watch birds, cross country ski, hike and take short trips around Wisconsin and neighboring states – with her children.

Survivors include her children, Dennis (Clairann) Kaminski, Doris (Charles) Haase, Diane (John) Repinski, Margaret (Lee) Handschke, Alvin (Mary) Kaminski, James (friend Barb Eskritt) Kaminski and Andrew (Debbie) Kaminski Jr.; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Edmund Krayecki.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Monica was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, John, Daniel and Leonard; sisters, Emily Janowski and Dorothy Pliska; three grandsons and one great-great-graddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Monica’s name to either St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point or St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek with the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery, Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, 703 Second St., Stevens Point, and again on Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass. Knights of Columbus Council No. 1170 (of which her son is a member) will combine with the parish rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
