Ron Kind’s November opponent will be decided in a primary election between three candidates instead of four.
One candidate for the 3rd Congressional District has dropped out of the race, leaving three candidates running for Kind’s spot in November. Chris Anderson, former aide to U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, announced Monday he was leaving the contest and throwing his weight behind fellow Republican Tony Kurtz.
Kurtz served in the United States Army for 20 years and is currently a small business owner and farm in Prairie du Chien. He runs against Ken Van Doren, a former Mauston City Council Member and retired building contractor as well as civil rights lawyer Karen Mueller from Chippewa Falls.
The three will square off in a Republican primary August 12. with the winner facing Ron Kind, a Democrat from La Crosse.
