Closest Meeting to Stevens Point on the ‘Transportation Moves Wisconsin’ Initiative Focuses on Transportation Funding Needs

For the City-Times

Transportation Moves Wisconsin is the theme of a new initiative of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). The goal is to get feedback from people around the state about transportation needs and how the state should finance those needs into the future.

Transportation Moves Wisconsin is aimed at giving more visibility to the state’s multimodal transportation system and to engage people around the state in talking about how it impacts their lives. The feedback we receive will be important in the development of the next state transportation budget.

As part of the initiative, WisDOT Secretary Mark Gottlieb is hosting a public, town hall meeting:

  • Wednesday, April 30 at the Northcentral Technical College, 1000 W. Campus Drive, Center for Health Sciences Auditorium, Room 1004, Wausau, WI
An open house begins at 5 p.m., presentation at 5:30 p.m., followed by public discussion.

WisDOT North Central Region staff will be present to answer general questions about upcoming projects, but the meetings are focused on broader issues and the need to identify new revenue to make infrastructure investments in all modes of transportation.

The meeting site is accessible to wheelchair. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may arrange for one by contacting the WisDOT Office of Public Affairs at (608) 266-3581 or [email protected] at least three days prior to the meeting.

There is also an option for people to submit comments to the department via the web. Go to www.wisconsindot.gov and click on the Transportation Moves Wisconsin logo.

We hope you will be able to attend this important event.
