GUILTY: Dudas Convicted on 30 of 31 Counts of Sex Assault, Strangulation
By Patrick Lynn
A Stevens Point lawyer today was found guilty on 30 of 31 accounts of sexual assault and strangulation.
David G. Dudas, 49, formally of Dale, was convicted this morning of a series of brutal attacks on his wife, stemming from a 2013 arrest after a night of events which put his wife in the hospital. The one charge he was not convicted of was one count of strangulation which allegedly occurred between April and June 2013.
Some jurors almost became physically ill after watching graphic videos Dudas made of him and his wife having rough sex, which prosecutors used as evidence of the crimes. The defense claimed on at least one occasion, Dudas’ wife could be seen acting as a willing participant.
Dudas’ convictions include 11 counts of strangulation, one count of first degree sexual assault and 14 counts of second degree sexual assault.
Both Dudas and his wife took the stand during the seven- day trial, with Dudas claiming the marriage was loving and healthy but had grown to include sadomasochistic sexual relations. He claimed his wife made up the story of being sexually assaulted.
Dudas’ wife, on the other hand, said she soon began to fear after the couple’s sex life became more extreme and would be physically abused if she did not submit to her husband’s wishes in the bedroom.
Dudas was sentenced before a packed courtroom around 11:30 AM. His bail was revoked and he was taken into custody until his sentencing on July 17.
