Letter: Destination Imagination Team Raising Funds for Global Contest

To the Editor-

We are a group of students from St. Peter Middle School and Pacelli that make up the Destination Imagination (DI) teams, Omikron and The Crew. DI is a national non-profit, volunteer-led organization. Its purpose is to teach students to become creative thinkers and leaders. Every year the organization offers seven new challenges.  Each challenge is open-ended and helps teams learn the creative process. In working to solve the challenge, teams learn creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Both Omikron and the Crew competed in the Improv Challenge, Pandemonium!, this year.

By performing well at the regional tournament on March 22nd, both teams qualified for the State competition on April 12th, where Omikron finished second, and the Crew finished third. This qualified both teams for Globals! Some of the comments from the appraisers included “impressive teamwork,” “very logical thought process,” and “great human scenery!”

The ultimate goal of every DI team is to make it to the Global competition, and we are so excited to be going! This event is in Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 21-24th, and our teams will meet and compete against teams from all around the world!  But we need to raise approximately $12,000 for the two teams to participate (12 Students). Would you be willing to donate money to help us reach this goal? We would be so grateful for any assistance you can offer.

To make a donation of any amount please click here.

Thank you in advance for your timely consideration of support for our teams.

Sincerely,

The Crew                                                  Omikron
