By Patrick Lynn
A 37 year-old Vesper man was killed Sunday morning in a one- vehicle accident.
According to a news release from the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office, the man was traveling in an eastbound lane of Hwy. 54 when he drove into the south ditch. He then attempted to get back on the highway but his truck spun counterclockwise and then rolled three times.
His vehicle struck a utility pole at the intersection of Hwy. 54 and Coolidge and he was ejected from the vehicle. Whether he died on the scene or later at the hospital is not known.
At the time his vehicle struck the pole, power was lost to over 2,000 Village of Plover residents but was restored by 4:30 AM.
Sheriff’s Deputies received a 911 call about 1:30 Sunday morning. Portage Co. Ambulance and Plover Fire Department also responded.
The man’s name name has not yet been released pending notification of family members. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
