Andrea was born April 5, 1920 in Stevens Point, the daughter of Ladislaus and Eleanore (Shemanski) Jaworski. She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1939. Andrea married Hubert Jakusz on June 5, 1948 at St. Peter Catholic Church. The couple lived on the Northside their entire lives. Andrea was a loving wife and mother, putting family first. While she “tied snells” for Weber Tackle for a few years at home, her primary dedication was to caring for her family, including many grandchildren to whom she was as much a Mother as a Grandmother. She loved her home, yard and garden, and put many hours of hard work and TLC into them. Andrea was an avid cross-stitcher, and created many beautiful pieces for her family, friends and her home.
Andrea had a deep faith and love for her church. She is a 50 year member of the St. Peter Rosary Society. She was also a long standing member of many organizations, dedicating many hours in service to further their causes. These included the American Legion Post #6 Auxiliary, Noon Lion’s Club, and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Since residing at Harmony, she charmed staff with her spunky and sparkly personality and antics, earning her the endeared title of “Mama”. We are grateful for the love and care her many caregivers at Harmony gave to her over the years, who truly became family to both her and her children. Thank you also to Heartland Hospice, who helped care for her in her last months.
Andrea is survived by her children and their spouses: Susan (Peter) Kohnen; Robert (Angie) Jakusz; Kathy (Dennis) Barden. 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson: Tracie (Jeff) Kleiner sons Ryan and Joshua; Benjamin (Chelsie) Kohnen, children Ethan and his son Aadyn, Michaela, Sidney, Madison, and Jackson; Shane (Jennifer) Kohnen children Lucas and Lyssa; Neil Barden; Amber Barden; Elise Jakusz; and Natalie Jakusz. She is further survived by her brother-in-law Edwin Jakusz and sister-in-law Irene Jakusz and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert in 1997. Andrea was the last surviving member of the Ladisaus and Eleanore Jaworski family.
In addition to her parents, Andrea was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Marie Gething, Joseph, Dorothy Cyran, Roman “Skeeter”, Theodore “Bud”, and Ruth; and by six siblings who died at or shortly after their birth: Chester, Adam, Ida, Stanley, Albert, and Eva.
