Ralph “Bud” G. Schuh, 92
Ralph “Bud” G. Schuh, 92 of Plover, died Sunday May 11, 2014, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital.
Ralph was born on March 7, 1922, in Manitowoc to the late Ralph and Agnes (Denk) Schuh. He attended grade school and high school in Reedsville.
Ralph entered the service on September 16, 1942, in Milwaukee. He was a Staff Sargent in the army serving during WWII. He served in Africa, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Victory Metal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Battle Stars Two Overseas bars, One Service Stripe and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1946 at Fort Sheridan Illinois.
His marriage to Kathleen Adams took place on October 8, 1955, in Reedsville. The couple resided in Racine and Abbotsford while working construction and in 1962 moved to Stevens Point. They then later moved to the Plover area in 2002.
Ralph worked as an operating engineer on road construction until his retirement. He has been a member of the Operating Engineer’s Union for over 65 years. After retiring from road construction, he worked part-time in grocery stores in Plover and Stevens Point for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 6
He enjoyed spending time with his boys hunting and fishing, enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and attending dog shows with his wife.
Bud is survived by his wife, Kathleen Schuh of Plover, Sons, Jeff (Deb) of Nekoosa, Tim (Helen) of Saint Cloud Minnesota, Dan (Marcy) of Wisconsin Rapids and Neal (Kelly) of Plover.
Six Grandchildren; Jacqui, Allison, Eric, Desirae, Colin and Hayden. Five Step-Grandchildren, Zuri, Jessica, Samantha, Colton, Raffi and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Schuh of Stevens Point. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob (Virginia) Adams of Florida and Rahlan (Mary) Gaedtke of Stevens Point. Also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard and Eugene. Sisters, Leona Reinke and Ruth Schuh.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Portage County Home and Ministry St. Michaels Hospital for their loving care of Ralph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00a.m. on Thursday May 15, 2014, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church Plover with Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00a.m. until the time of service at the church. Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center Plover is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ralph’s name will be established at a later date.
