A $30,000 scholarship has been set up with the Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools (SPACS) in honor of Chester and Rose Marie Cegielski from Junction City. The scholarship has been established to provide tuition assistance for students attending the Catholic schools. The Cegielski’s viewed a Catholic education as being essential in rearing their children.  The Cegielski’s worked extremely hard and sacrificed much to financially afford all their children a catholic education.  In their memory, the family wants to share a catholic education with children who otherwise may not be able to attend.

Both deceased (1989 and 2013 respectively), Chester retired from the Port Edwards Paper Mill and Rose Marie was a third grade teacher at the John F. Kennedy School in Junction City, WI. Together, they operated the family farm. They were members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Junction City.  They have 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren.

The Cegielski’s had 8 children, losing their son, Jerome, at three months of age. The seven surviving children all attended St. Michael’s Catholic School in Junction City and Maria and/or Pacelli High School  in Stevens Point.  Their children are:

Jim (Janet Ebert) of Friendship attended Pacelli in 1959 and retired as an owner/operator Truck Driver.

Frank (Dianne Trzebiatowski , Maria ’64) graduated from Pacelli in 1964. He is the Vice President of Sales/Sales Manager at Spectra Print in Stevens Point.

Joe (Doreen Mrozek) graduated from Pacelli in 1966 and worked for the airline industry retiring from Northwest Airlines as a Customer Service Agent.

Andy graduated from Pacelli in 1967 and retired as a Computer Operator in the IT Department at the Marshfield Clinic and continues as a Property Tax Assessor.

Nancy (Cegielski) Neusen graduated from Maria in 1969 and is a Registered Electrologist and Laser Technician at St. Agnesian Healthcare in Fond du Lac, WI.

Mary (Cegielski) (Bob) Kolodziej graduated from Pacelli in 1972. She  is an LPN & recently retired from Del Monte Foods as the Area Human Resource Manager.

Alice (Cegielski) (John) Van Asten (died in 2002) graduated from Pacelli in 1974 and was a Lab Technician at the Marshfield Clinic and was the proud mother of four children.

Students attending Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools will apply for the scholarship and two $500 recipients will be selected by a scholarship committee.
