Stevens Point School Board Member Renae Shiebley has resigned from the School Board.
In an email communication obtained by the City-Times, Sheibley announced early Tuesday morning her decision to leave the Board at the end of May. While Sheibley has of late been suffering from an undisclosed health issue, she did not give a reason for the resignation and was not immediately available for comment.
“It is with a heavy heard that I tender my resignation from the Board effective May 31, 2014,” Sheibley said in her email. “I thank the community for this opportunity and I wish the Board and the district great success as it continues to strive to meet the mission of preparing each student to be successful.”
Sheibley was first elected to the Board in 2006. She has served as both vice president and president of the Board.
According to Karlyn Krautkramer in the district’s business affairs office, any mid-term opening on the School Board is filled through an application process with instructions coming from Bliss Educational Center.
