Maxine Wallin, 96
Maxine Wallin, passed away on May 14, 2014, she was 96 years young.
Maxine was born Maxine Patricia Millar on May 8th 1918 in Minneapolis, MN. Her parents were the late David and Grace Millar. She had one sister the late Grace Paulsen (Millar). On Aug 8th 1941, after a 3 week courtship, she married the late Lloyd Wallin and so began their 70 year life together.
Maxine was an interior designer for the former Krembs/Polston Furniture in Stevens Point. Later she did design work for Falk Interiors. Her talents were seen in many homes here in the Portage County area. She was the designer for the original Stevens Point Holiday Inn. Her greatest decorating accomplishment was their 19th century colonial home in Plover. Maxine was an avid antique collector and filled their house with furniture, pictures, accents that were tributes to the homes age.
She was a member of the Plover Methodist Church and for a number of years was active in the fund raising church bazaars. These bazaars became the talk of the town and were quite the annual event. Maxine never believed in doing anything half way. With her it was always do your best work, something you will be proud of. Legion and high school baseball was another of Maxine’s passions. She and Lloyd were their number one fans. You could always see them sitting up at the fence cheering them on. She knew every name and every number of the boys on the team and encourage them to be the best they could be. She celebrated many birthdays with the team; always ending with the players singing “Happy Birthday to Her.” After the singing cake and ice cream was enjoyed by all and over the years she was presented very nice gifts that she cherished dearly. She became a part of many baseball families.
Maxine is survived by two children: Irene Wallin (Gilbert Carrillo), Kermit Wallin. She is also survived by grandchildren: Scott Sibbald, Chris Raflik (Russell), Nathan Wallin, Nicholas Wallin (Jen Gilles), David Wallin, Eda Schmidt (Wallin). Great Grandchildren: Ashley Ellis, Brandi Ellis, Trina Raflik, Emery Wallin. She was proceeded in death by one daughter Trina and one son Per and husband Lloyd.
A viewing will be held at Plover – Shuda Funeral Home on Wednesday May 21, 2014 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. A Service for Maxine will be held on Thursday May 22 at 11:00AM. Visitation will also be held on Thursday at the funeral home in Plover from 10:00 – 10:45 AM.
