Bella to Face Attempted Homicide Charges

A 30 year-old man is facing attempted homicide charges after police say he stabbed another man with a samurai sword in early May.
According to polcie documents, Joshua Bella of Stevens Point broke into a an apartment near McCullough and Division streets on May 1st and stabbed John Richart multiple times with a samurai sword.
Bella was subdued by Richart and another person inside the residence by the time police had arrived. Bella’s motive could be related to his being asked to vacate an apartment owned by Richart about a year ago.
Bella faces several charges including attempted homicide, recklessly endangering safety, aggravated battery and armed burglary. He remains in the Portage Co. Jail on $250,000 cash bond and returns to court on May 30.
