State Representative Amy Sue Vruwink, from Milladore, announced that she will run for re-election to the State Assembly today at The Point, a locally owned business in Tomah.

“During my time in the Assembly, I have been an independent voice for our district’s rural values. My focus has been on creating an economy that grows from the middle class out and helps support the strong rural communities and businesses we need in order to create opportunities for our children.

“People in rural Wisconsin know that working together is the best way to solve problems and get things done. I bring that attitude to Madison because it’s the best way I can represent a district full of folks who stand up for what is right and put their differences aside to help each other when times are tough. We know that a “You’re on your own” mentality doesn’t help any of us move forward. When representatives take that approach in Madison it hurts our state, our communities, and our families.

“As a mom, I work hard knowing that the decisions we make will directly impact the Wisconsin that my kids will grow up in. I don’t let extremists or special interests from either party tell me what’s right or what’s wrong for my kids or my district. I look at each bill and make my decision based on whether it will get things done for the people in our district. That’s my job, and that’s what I do every day.”

Representative Vruwink highlighted her role as one of the most independent and bi-partisan Representatives in Madison. Over the last twelve years, Amy Sue has used her experience to become one of the Assembly’s leading voices on agricultural issues and has worked with legislators from both sides of the aisle to promote family-supporting jobs, affordable health care, sportsmen’s rights, and gun rights. She is a proven leader who stands up for veterans and is determined to protect open and transparent government.

Born and raised in rural Wisconsin, Amy Sue Vruwink grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Milladore. After graduating from Auburndale High School, Amy Sue went to Marian University in Fond du Lac. Amy Sue and her husband Matt are raising their two kids just across the field from the Vruwink family farm in Milladore with the same values of hard work and appreciation for living in rural Wisconsin.

Amy Sue Vruwink represents the 70th Assembly District which includes parts of Jackson, Monroe, Portage, and Wood Counties. Over the course of the day, she met with voters across her entire district, from Stevens Point to Sparta, to discuss her efforts in the Assembly and her re-election campaign. Amy Sue is dedicated to working hard to earn her district’s support again in 2014, and she looks forward to continuing her service in the Wisconsin State Assembly.
