Stevens Point Police say one man was seriously injured during an attack in Iverson Park on Monday.
Sgt. Dan Wheeler said one person was injured during what he described as “an assault”. Wheeler said the man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Wheeler could not confirm it was not a stabbing but said he couldn’t comment on the nature of the assault further.
One section of the park’s parking lot has been blocked off with crime tape. Two SUV’s were being guarded and investigated by a police crew on the scene. The rear of one SUV was smeared with blood.
Police are still looking for the suspect, Wheeler said, but added the public is not in danger. Police were called to the scene about 6 PM.
“The public is not in danger, but I can’t really say more at this time as we’re just getting underway with the investigation,” Wheeler said. “But the public is not in any danger.”
More as we have it.
