Thousands of students from the Stevens Point Public School District will come together this week for the 45th Annual Gene La Rose Elementary School Track meet held at Goerke Park.
Students will wear school colors on their clothes, faces and hair in an effort to display the best school spirit.
The two- day event runs May 28 & 29, with one rain date scheduled for June 2, and pits area fifth and sixth graders’ physical skill against each other in various track & field events. Events include shot put, long jump, hurdles and tug of victory, also known as “tug of war”.
Points will be awarded to students based on individual effort and team skills. Jefferson Elementary earned the highest point total last year, which garnered the school it’s first- ever win for the Spirit Jug, a traveling trophy vied for each year.
