City-Times Staff
The Portage County Highway Department will begin work on two roadway projects, weather permitting, starting Monday, June 2.
Approximately one mile of County Highway Z, between Highway 66 and Edgewood Road in Polonia will be reconstructed. The work includes pulverizing existing pavement, replacing culvert pipes, widening the existing shoulders, grading, and asphalt paving.
The project will be constructed in three phases with the first phase from STH 66 to CTH K (south), the second phase from CTH K (south) to CTH K (north), and the final phase from CTH K(north) to Edgewood Road.
Work on the project is expected to be complete by early August.
About three miles of County Trunk J, between Highway 66 and County Highway CC in the Town of Sharon will be resurfaced beginning this week also. Crews will pulverize the existing pavement, shape the base and pave new asphalt. Work is anticipated to be complete by mid-July.
Both projects will be closed to through traffic for the duration of construction, with access will be limited local residents, businesses, and emergency vehicles. Motorists are asked to slow down and use caution.
