Four candidates for Portage County sheriff will face each other during a candidate forum in July.
The forum will be hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Stevens Point Area. The event will be held in the Pineries Room of the Portage Co. Library, 1001 Main Street, from 6-8 PM on July 31.
The county’s top law dog seat became an open race after Sheriff John Charewicz announced last year he would not run for office again.
Corrections Officer Robert Golla and retired sheriff’s office lieutenant James Grubba, as well as current sheriff’s office sergeants Mike Lukas and Kevin Sorenson are all seeking the four- year term. All are running as Democrats.
The election primary is August 12, followed by the November 4 general election.
