Four suspects in the Iverson Park assault on Memorial Day were in court Monday to face formal charges in the attack which sent one man to the hospital.
The men, 24-year-old Frank Martinez, 26-year-old Jesus Rangel, 18-year-old Austin Ortiz, and 23-year-old Angelo Garcia were formally charged with assault and are being held on $15,000 bond. Police say the motive behind the attack is not known.
Police responded to reports of an attack inside the park shortly before 6 PM on May 26, where SPPD Sgt. Dan Wheeler said officers found in one parking lot an SUV smeared with blood. Crews were on the scene collecting evidence for about an hour. Police eventually determined the victim had been beaten with fists and a wooden mallet or stick and in front of his child.
Police are also looking for a fifth man, 20 year-old Eric Constantine of Stevens Point, for questioning.
The victim was taken to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau for treatment of facial fractures and has since been released.
